SUOOG was built on a single principle: buying and selling close to home should be efficient, clear and safe. Our search interprets plain language, so that results reflect what was actually intended. Every account is verified by email and telephone, and sellers may complete an optional identity check in order to display a verified checkmark. Listings are reviewed automatically before publication, and reviewed again after every edit. Beyond that, SUOOG remains outside the transaction itself: the agreement is made between the buyer and the seller.
SUOOG operates on Amazon Web Services within the Canada (Central) region, located in Montréal. Account records, listings, uploaded photographs and shop pages are stored in that region.
Certain specialist services are not offered within Canada, or are run by companies based elsewhere, and are therefore performed outside Canada, mainly in the United States. These comprise automated image screening (Amazon Rekognition), semantic search (Google Gemini), payment processing (Stripe, or the app store when you buy inside a SUOOG app), optional identity verification (Stripe Identity), automated-abuse protection (Google reCAPTCHA), web fonts (Google Fonts), delivery of our sign-in library (jsDelivr) and our support email (Forward Email and Gmail) — and, only for website visitors who allow them, audience measurement (Google Analytics) and, from October 8, 2026, advertising measurement (Google Ads). Each provider is identified individually in the Privacy Policy, together with a description of the information it receives.
Describe what you are looking for in ordinary language — for example, “gaming laptop under $1,000 in Toronto” — and our semantic search returns genuine matches. No specialised keywords or search syntax are required.
Every account is verified by email and telephone. Every listing is screened automatically before publication and screened again after each edit, so that the listing displayed is always the listing that was approved. Sellers may also complete a one-time Stripe Identity check to obtain a blue verified checkmark, which appears on every listing they publish.
SUOOG shows no advertising on its own pages, so nothing competes with the listings themselves, and we do not sell personal information. On the website, Google Analytics, which measures visits and page usage, runs only if you allow it; from October 8, 2026 you may also allow advertising cookies, which help us measure and show SUOOG’s own ads on other websites. Both are off unless you turn them on, and neither is used inside the SUOOG apps. Google reCAPTCHA protects registration, sign-in and our other forms from automated abuse. Every cookie is listed in our Cookies Policy, and every service provider in our Privacy Policy.
Each account may hold up to five Standard listings free of charge, permanently. Sellers may upgrade to Extended ($20, 45 days) for a longer visibility period and priority placement, or add a paid option; listings carrying any paid option do not count towards the free allowance. There are no hidden fees and no unexpected charges.
SUOOG introduces buyers and sellers but takes no part in shipping or in payments between them. Members meet locally, inspect the item, and complete the transaction directly with one another.
SUOOG was designed for compliance with PIPEDA from the outset, and member data is hosted in the AWS Canada (Central) region. Optional cookies stay off until you choose, and our Privacy Officer answers every privacy request. A telephone number is never displayed until its owner chooses to release it.
We would rather grow steadily with genuine members than rapidly with automated accounts. Moderation is not an overhead to be minimised; it is central to the service itself.
We use plain language, straightforward pricing and predictable listing periods. A feature that cannot be explained in a single sentence is not released.
Canada has its own legislation, currency, provinces and distances. SUOOG is built for this country, and every decision begins with what genuinely serves Canadians.
Members may correct or delete their personal information at any time, and may request a copy of it by email. We treat these as standing rights rather than requests to be negotiated.
